Front and rear plates on an FM-A: how the B-MAX stack fits together

By Aizad · 3 Nov 2026 · 2 min read

In B-MAX you cannot cut a plate or drill a new hole. Every roller angle, brake pad and damper position has to come from bolting existing Tamiya plates together through the holes Tamiya already drilled.

On our FM-A Setup Book car — built on the same FM-A platform as Mach Frame (18714) and Brocken Gigant Premium (19452) — the front and rear roller stays use the same core pair stacked together: 95433 HG Carbon Front Stay (1.5 mm, full-cowl type) on top of 15472 FRP Wide Front Plate (full-cowl type).

The front stack: roller stay, base plate and front brake

At the front, one 1.5 mm plate flexes when the car noses into a jump landing. Stacking the carbon 95433 (¥1,034) with its matching FRP twin 15472 (¥286 / RM11) gives a 3 mm roller stay using standard 9, 13 and 19 mm holes without cutting the body.

Underneath that pair sit four supporting plates:

  • Front base plate, 15243: the Super X FRP Rear Roller Stay (¥242 / RM11), turned around and bolted into the lowest front holes of the FM-A bumper under the 15472 + 95433 stack.
  • Reinforcing strip, 15193: the classic FRP Reinforcing Plate Set ("popsicle stick", ¥220 / RM8.10) tying the front group together.
  • Two HG carbon multi plates, 15495: two pieces of 15495 HG Carbon Multi Reinforcing Plate (1.5 mm, ¥1,210 / RM33) sit on the front underside — one in the front stay group and one carrying the 15512 mild blue front brake sponge.

The rear stack: upper roller stay, lower stay and brake plate

At the rear, the car needs two roller heights for the 13 mm ringless aluminium rollers (15437) plus a flat tail behind the wheels for the rear brake sponge and cylinder mass dampers:

  • Rear upper stay, 95433 + 15472: the same full-cowl carbon and FRP pair stacked together at the top.
  • Rear lower stay, 15242: a Super X FRP Multi Reinforcing Plate (RM8.10) mounted lower down to keep the bottom rollers aligned.
  • Rear brake stay, 15518: the FRP Rear Brake Stay Set (¥418 / RM17), which gives a wide flat surface behind the rear wheels for the 15492 white brake sponge (wrapped in 15463 blue multipurpose tape) and the two rear cylinder dampers.

The B-MAX ruling

B-MAX allows FRP and carbon plates to be stacked and used outside their named position (for example, bolting a front full-cowl stay at the rear, or a Super X rear stay under the front bumper), provided every part is a genuine Tamiya item, no outline is cut or sanded, and every countersunk hole starts from an existing factory hole.
